Capucine

Copyright belongs to The Knitting Baker
Finally a FO here on the blog! Knitting was something I sort of forgot in the last months of year 2012, up until the very end. I got really frustrated with my hat situation and went on the look-out for some cute hat patterns. The one I chose was Capucine, with Positori's mods. When I started making this, it was very hard for me to put it down for the night, I was in a frenzy!
- "I can't believe I forgot how fun it is to knit!"
Now I'm making another one, from an even bulkier yarn, as well as having my long-term project, the Sky Scarf, on my needles.

I really liked knitting this and I'm happy with the result too. Easy and quick to make, cute and practical to wear. The perfect hat for someone with a fringe and sensitive ears (read: me).

Summery waistcoat

So, now I have finished what I mentioned in my previous post. My crocheted waistcoat is done and ready for summer! I had it on for the first time yesterday and I'm really satisfied with the result. It looks and fits just like it ought to.

This is a Drops Garnstudio pattern from their huge collection. I had to play around with the pattern a little bit. I started making one in S/M size and I noticed fairly early on that it was going to be too big for me. I wanted to have the same fit as the model in the photo: not too loose. So I started out again  made the square back piece smaller. I needed to figure out how to be able to continue with the pattern directions and it took a little thinking, but I think it turned out really nice in the end.

I choose the color white, because I want this garment to be functional and be able to wear it with lots of different clothes. I have many bright colored T-shirts, tops and dresses and white doesn't clash with any of them, that's why I chose it. I believe I will be wearing this a lot in the coming summer months and am already looking for to more sunny days so I can put it on. I might add little strings on the front, so I can tie them in a knot, for windy but warm days. This was a quick and easy project and I'm really satisfied with it.

Crocheted Tank Top

The tank top in action

Finally a FO in the blog! This tank top has been ready for some time now, but it really got into use this last weekend. I don't know why I haven't been wearing it a lot more, because when I finished it, I was really looking for to wearing it, but at that time, the weather just wasn't right. And then after it was, this piece of clothing somehow never really made its way on my outings. (Maybe it was because I didn't want to have tan lines that I so often have on my back and shoulders.) Anyway, this last weekend I found out how wonderful this is to use, it's so soft and comfortable and lets the cooling wind breeze through. The pattern I got from one of my mom's old magazines and am very satisfied. I thought that a yarn like this with color variation needed a simple pattern to let the yarn shine. This is one of the first bigger pieces of clothing I've done and am so proud to be telling people that I've done it myself :)
